The House

Duchy House Guest House is located close to Princetown’s village centre, in the heart of the stunning Dartmoor National Park. It is ideally situated for participating in outdoor activities such as walking, cycling or canoeing or simply for relaxing.

Duchy House was built in 1888 as part of the Duchy of Cornwall Estate. It is believed to have initially been annex accommodation for the Duchy Hotel (now the High Moorland Visitor Centre). Since World War II, Duchy House has been used as a hotel, guest house, private family home and tea room. Sal and Al took over Duchy House Guest House in March 2015.  Having closed for the Winter 2015-2016, all rooms have been refurbished or redecorated and all now feature en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TV’s, free wi-fi and tea and coffee making facilities.

PrincetownRated as ‘Superb’ on (with a score for 2017 of 9.5/10) and “Excellent” on Tripadvisor, Sal & Al pride themselves on providing quality service in their comfortable and welcoming home. Duchy House Guest House is a non-smoking establishment within 250 metres of both Princetown’s pubs, which serve excellent food, the High Moorland Visitor Centre, Duchy Square Arts & Crafts Centre, Princetown Brewery and the Village Community Hall. Slightly further away, but within easy walking distance, is the fascinating Dartmoor Prison Museum. Coming soon to Princetown is a new whisky distillery.
